Local Tourism
Prestatyn is the most easterly of the North Wales coastal resorts. The Town centre is set between golden sandy beaches and roaming hillsides. Because of its location, Prestatyn has a very favourable climate all of its own.
Prestatyn is also considered to be the Northern Gateway for walking in North Wales. As either the start (or end ) of the Offas Dyke National Trail, it’s a walkers paradise – access can also be gained to the North Wales Path, the Clwydian Way and the recently launched Dee Way.
The town boasts a Roman Bath House which was built around AD 120 and extended in about AD 150. It had a cold plunge bath at the far end which was fed by a local spring by means of a timber aqueduct The site is situated in Melyd Avenue, which is only about a 20 minute walk from the Holiday Park.
Beaches
There a seven miles of golden sandy beaches, stretching from Prestatyn to Rhyl. The closest is Ffrith, which is a five minute stroll from the Park. At Ffrith there activities for all ages. It also facilitates those who like to wine and dine Italian, and for those who prefer the more traditional fayre, the Ffrith serves excellent cuisine.
Castles
Wales has some of the finest examples throughout Europe, a few of which are right on your doorstep, Conwy, Rhuddlan and Denbigh to name just three. All within easy reach of Tan-Y-Don which makes for an enjoyable day out and to experience some of the history of the local area.
Bowling
There are several bowling greens in the area, but the green at Prestatyn is a five minute walk from the park and boasts a Club House that has entertainment on a regular basis. There is also Ten Pin Bowling on the Ffrith complex.
Markets
There are various markets in the area, the two largest local venues are, Tir Prince in Towyn which is open Saturday and Sunday, and the market-Coed Mawr which is in Greenfield approximately 8 miles from the Park.
Fishing
Whether its Sea, Coarse or Fly fishing, you will not have to go far to find it. If youngsters want to try for the first time, the small lake at Ffrith, just across from the park offers the ideal starter location to get them hooked.
Golf
For the Golfer, you’ll be pleased to know that there are four golf courses within a five mile radius of Tan Y Don. The nearest is Prestatyn Golf course which is an eighteen hole Championship links course.
